Watercolors by Marjorie Hampton-Nagib
Marjorie Hampton-Nagib is a well known watercolorist living in Cairo, Egypt. She is largely a self-taught water-colorist, and an occasional potter. Her trademark watercolors reflect idyllic and tranquil scenes of Egypt, usually of "fellahins" along the banks of the Nile and elsewhere. Her simple and colorful watercolors are extremely popular, and she is recognized as one of the best watercolorists of this genre in Egypt. A large selection of her work is reproduced as Christmas cards, and she was commissioned for British Petroleum calendars. She has participated in a number of art exhibitions in Egypt. Born in Llanfechain (Wales), Marjorie Hampton-Nagib was raised in Manchester (England),and is now living in a residential suburb of Cairo, with her Egyptian born husband and the rest of her family. A selection of her watercolors are on display at her studio, and she accepts special orders.
